Handicap

  • "Handicap" means that a team receives a virtual head start, effectively leading the game by differing amount or amounts before it actually kicks off.
  • If you back a team with the handicap and they manage to win the match (with head start included), then you'll win the bet.
  • In some cases, a team is given two virtual head starts. If they manage to overcome both of these, then you get a maximum return on your stake. If they overcome only one of these, your profit is either halved or half your stake is returned, depending on the odds.

Handicap Example 1

  • Barcelona are playing at home to Real Madrid, and are the favourites to win. To make this match an equal contest, Barcelona are handicapped by half a goal. This means:

    Handicap Table

    Team Handicap Description
Barcelona (-0.5) Barcelona will have 0.5 goals taken away from their final score (-0.5)
Real Madrid (+0.5) Real Madrid will be given a 0.5 goal head start (+0.5)

Handicap Example 2

  • Liverpool are playing at home to Tottenham, this match is already an equal contest and, as both teams are evenly matched neither team is handicapped. This means:

    Handicap Table

    Team Handicap Description
    Liverpool (0) No Handicap
    Tottenham (0) No Handicap

      (0 + 0 = 0)

If the handicap is 0 and the result is a draw your stake is returned .

    Split Handicap

  • The best way to understand split handicap is to imagine you are having two separate bets with your stake being split equally between the 2 component handicaps.
  • Thus with a handicap of 0, 0.5:
  • Half your stake will go on at the 0 handicap and half at the 0.5 handicap.
  • It is important to note that you don't physically place the two separate bets at the two different handicaps. This is done automatically by our system whenever you bet on a 'split ball' handicap

Handicap Example 3

  • Lazio are playing at home to Roma and Lazio are the favourites to win. However, the amount by which they are favourites happens to be between 0 and -0.5. Therefore, Lazio's handicap is 0, -0.5. This means half your stake goes to 0 handicap while the other half of the stake goes to 0.5 handicap.
